Jingyao earned her Bachelor of Environmental Design from Tongji University and her Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Washington. Her documentation of everyday life and the ways people and place influence one another shaped her path to landscape architecture. She extended this observational practice to her work in urban ecology, contributing to projects with conservation organizations in addition to drawing scientific illustrations for local bird field guides. Through these experiences, she developed a perspective that situates people as part of nature and design as a bridge between the built and natural worlds. As a designer, she is passionate about connecting people with local ecologies, exploring how landscape architecture can support resilient and inclusive communities.
Outside of work, Jingyao enjoys birding and other naturalist hobbies, keeping a sketchbook of her field notes and drawings.
