Senior Designer

Kara built her friendship with the natural systems of Central Texas during her childhood spent floating the Comal River, hiking Austin’s Greenbelt, and studying the wildflowers in the open lots of her neighborhood as they returned to prairie. As an adult, she understands how impactful access to these different scales of green space was to her own development and reverence of nature.

While studying human and environmental geography at the University of North Texas, Kara discovered the many services that healthy ecosystems provide their community and environment. She chose to pursue a career in landscape architecture to steward healthy ecosystems and maximize their community impact. At the University of Texas at Austin, Kara explored the landscapes of Central Texas with new eyes, examining inequities of access, environmental degradation, and water quality.

Today, Kara’s design thinking centers around the protection of Central Texas’ ecologies and freshwater systems as well as the provision of the immersive access to healthy nature that she enjoyed as a child. She is a SITES Accredited Professional. Outside of work, you can find Kara exploring Austin’s parks with her pup and enjoying the city’s vibrant food scene with her friends and family.
