Kelsey is a landscape architect hailing from Oakland, California. Prior to delving into the world of landscape architecture, she worked as a wildlife biologist in both Davis, California and Livingstone, Zambia. While her species of focus varied drastically between the two regions, her observations were the same; conservation measures for wildlife had a positive influence on people’s mental and physical health. Her experiences taught her firsthand just how mutually beneficial wildlife conservation practices can be for a community space.
Today, her design interests center around the incorporation of wildlife habitat within the urban core to improve human lives and enhance the city experience. Consequently, her work focuses on healing the lost connection between people and nature, demonstrating how we too are part of the ecosystem and the role we play. She strongly believes that city and nature should not be separated but rather woven together, creating a thriving new type of ecosystem.
She holds a BS in Wildlife, Fish, and Conservation Biology from the University of California, Davis and an MLA from The University of Texas at Austin. Outside of work, you can find Kelsey playing soccer or sand volleyball, hiking, photographing natures details, and soaking up quality time with friends and family.
