TELA Project Designer Wins National ASLA Award

Alex Morvant, former TELA intern and current project designer, has been awarded a 2016 National ASLA Honor Award in the Analysis & Planning category for his student capstone project, The Vermilion Corridor: Rediscovering the Waterways of Southern Louisiana. Extensive research and analysis generated the project's vision of establishing a connection among open spaces along Bayou Vermilion in Lafayette in order to enhance its use as a cultural, economic, ecological, and open space amenity. The project identifies spatial opportunities, design strategies, and economic incentives for creating public access to the Bayou Vermilion and may serve as a model for activating post-industrial waterways in other Louisiana communities.
