Austin Convention Center

The Austin Convention Center redevelopment will create a lasting public asset for Austin, TX and we are honored to be a collaborator on the landscape architecture team. Key design moves focus on connection, showcasing Austin’s vibrant culture by bringing people together and weaving nature through the city’s urban core.

Once a pedestrian barrier, the new convention center is redefined as a gateway inviting residents and visitors alike to experience the heart of the city where urban life and nature intersect. The redevelopment breaks down the footprint of the current convention center into six segments, making downtown more walkable, welcoming, and accessible by restoring pedestrian and vehicular access on currently closed-off streets. A key feature of the project is an east to west passage along 2nd Street, which strengthens the connection to Waller Creek from downtown. With new generous pedestrianized streetscapes, vibrant shaded plazas, floating boardwalks over terraced native gardens down to Waller Creek, and public art installations by local artists, this project will serve as a dynamic, multi-use destination that reflects Austin’s identity.

We believe landscape architecture has the power to bring people together, and we’re proud to contribute to a project that will foster moments of connection, celebration, and discovery. The reimagined Austin Convention Center will be a place where business, culture, and community thrive — a true reflection of the spirit of Austin.
