Seaholm Intake & Waterfront Strategy Master Plan

The Seaholm Intake and Waterfront Strategy master plan consists of a 5-acre stretch of the Lady Bird Lake Butler Trail that surrounds the historic decommissioned Seaholm power plant intake building in downtown Austin. Through extensive collaboration with the design team, the derelict intake building and it’s surrounding grounds were redesigned for active community use, including gathering and event spaces, water-access points, trail and bridge connections, and bio-remediation gardens. Additional design elements include a heritage tree inventory and preservation strategy, stormwater management, streetscape and multi-modal trail improvements. To ensure the resulting design was inclusive, TELA and the design team performed 41 community outreach events and received more than 1,100 online survey community responses. Phasing of the proposed improvements and fundraising efforts are ongoing.
