Texas French Bread

A collaborative neighborhood effort invited Texas French Bread, a family-owned bakery and restaurant serving Austin for more than 30 years, to expand the dining experience of their patrons to the outdoors. Shaded by a magnificent heritage live oak, the new dining terrace is made intimate with a vine-covered arbor overhead and low walls, native grasses, and drought-tolerant fruiting plants along its perimeter. A brimming water feature at the center of the terrace further enhances the dining experience by both separating dining areas and serving as a backdrop for conversation. Lush rain garden defines the front edge of the terrace, and complements open graded gravel courses and irrigation systems that maintain the health of the existing oak tree. The dining terrace is open both day and night and accommodates special culinary events throughout the year.
